History Gunner was born and raised on a breeding farm that is specifically geared toward breeding the more rare colors in the Quarter Horse breed. He was entered into futurities before he even hit the ground. When a colt was born the breeding farm was excited and started his show career quickly. He was also color tested to confirm his coloring. Gunner was started under saddle as a two year old but only a few months later his home fell on hard times and most of the horses were sold. Gunner stayed for a while longer, but returned to pasture to grow and enjoy himself. His show career was put on hold as well as his training. It was not until his owner passed away that Gunner was off to find a new home. Most of the remaining property was sold at an estate sale, and Gunner was sent to auction.

It was pure luck that Amelia's own grandfather was attending the auctions to sell off some cattle when he saw Gunner run through. He looked pretty ragged at the time and was run through without a rider as no one knew he was broke. There was just something about the 4 year old wild colt that he had to buy. He admits he probably paid way too much for an underweight, crazy horse. In the end though, it paid off completely. Gunner came to Rouge and after he put on some weight and settled in he started to show his true self.

Gunner went through a few months of retraining and tune ups with Melissa and Amelia before her grandfather hopped on him and began to use him as his daily mount on the cattle ranch. It's been two years since he bought Gunner and the stallion had blossomed. He'd been trained in all sorts of things; from reining to western pleasure and even speed events. He is a true working horse. Anyone can jump on him despite being intact and use him for any job that's asked.

Personality Gunner first arrived a terrified, unruly teenager but with time he's transformed into quite an amazing horse. He still has a huge personality and a bit of a wild streak when he wants but overall he's great. He loves to work and knows his jobs well. Though he is not a horse for someone who just wants to walk around slowly. Gunner has a lot of go in him and a lot of smarts, the constant training in new disciplines helps keep him active and stimulated. It is a bit hard to find that slow gear in him though as he loves to run and likes to jig. But if you get him focused he'll find that nice slow jog for pleasure riding. Gunner can he nosy though, notorious for making messes and getting into everything. More than a few times he's escaped his pen and caused a commotion in the paddocks or went ripping down the barn aisle. If he gets out he will turn over every can, every box, and every trunk to find the treats. If he's not where he's supposed to be he's likely helped himself to the hay barn. He doesn't seem to have an incredibly high interest in mares yet as he still acts like a colt but he will prance and show off for them across the fence.

Training Gunner is well trained, he knows all his basics and ground work. He trailers, bathes, clips and ties perfectly. He'll lift his feet with no fuss and stand to be groomed all day. He is an excellent trail horse and works the cattle without fear. He has extensive training in cutting and sorting. He has been roped off of in rodeos as well as used for branding. He knows the patterns for speed and gaming events and has done well with his times so far but could use more work. He is a strong reiner, knowing his collected and extended canters and having a strong stop. He is started, but fairly green still, in pleasure classes.
