The end of the Summer Showdown was here! The bareback race was a fun way to end the show. And it was something Amelia and Natalie were not missing out on. Everyone had made their way down to the beach to get ready. The crowd was pretty big, almost everyone was down here to watch, most at the beginning and a few spectators scattered near the finish line. Amelia was calm and cool, sitting quietly on her stallion who had nothing but a neck rope on. She had a casual smile on, almost proud to be sitting there on a once wild stud with only a strap of leather around his neck to control him and he was perfectly behaved. Nat on the other hand had a little difficulty with Rosa, the mare was feeling pretty hot tonight. She kept Rosa's feet moving to keep her from bolting off or rearing. Though it wasn't anything Natalie wasn't used to with the gaming mare.

Finally the race was about to start. Everyone in it made their way to a line drawn in the sand and tried to hold their mounts there. It seemed a lot of competitors were here. It was probably the biggest event of the show, mostly because it wa a bit of fun and relaxed. Plus, what rider didn't want to prove themselves to have good horsemanship with a race like this? Everyone was looking up to a single person standing on a platform who was flagging. The horses around danced and pulled at their reins and when that flag dropped they took off. Riders kicked and spurred on their mounts to take off.

Fairly quickly the field became split, with a lot of the gaming horses here taking a quick lead. Their specialty of sudden bursts of speed helped them all jump ahead, but several other horses were right there too. Natalie was all smiles as she glanced ver her shoulder and found herself in the lead. Rosa was a powerhouse after all. Amelia and Vis were slowly gaining on the front of the pack, slowly working their way up but not quite having the speed to overtake everyone. There was another Quarter Horse they recognized from earlier in the show, a pale stallion, that was right up with Rosa and inching closer. Then much to Amelias surprise a larger horse was near the lead too. Amelia squeezed her little stallion on, trying to push him further. Natalie was starting to find herself slipping back. She jabbed her heels into the mares side tighter in hopes to get a second wind and even let out a few whoops. But it wasn't working, it seemed Rosa was starting to putter out and fall back. The finish line was coming up though, Natalie hoped she had enough to cross the line first but the others were almost neck and neck with them now.
